July 11, 2016

Mom: ok Handsome… I can’t believe this day is actually HERE! So dang crazy right?! I am so interested in knowing what you’re feeling right now. How was your last Sunday in the mission field? What will happen for you in these next few days? Will you go to the Mission Home tomorrow and stay overnight there? How many other missionaries are going home on the same day as you? What are you thinking/feeling ?!?!?!?!?! Wow. So crazy.

Mama 🙂

Bren: yo mama! I’m super excited to come home! I’ve loved the mission but I’m super excited to move on. tu Padre

Dad again: Bud –
I know your return home is going to be absolutely AWESOME!! We have had huge challenges, obstacles, trials, etc., right as we’re working hard to prepare for your homecoming, which means we know the homecoming is going to be epic!

Step aside Satan, we got this!!

Love again!
tu Padre

Bren: yo! tomorrow all the people who are going home will be in at the mission office but i dont know what we’re gunnu do. then we’ll stay the night in mcallen, either at the AP’s house are other missionaries who live close by. then we’ll hop on the plane! oh by the way can you please send me ur credit card info so i can pay online to send my bike home? theres a website that lets you do it pretty cheap compared to others, probly like 45 dollars. its gunnu be a PARTAY!!!

Mom: Yay YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!! This is so exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok … Write one paragraph of ending thoughts that I can put on ur blog ok? Then DONE!!!! SEE U IN TWO DAYS AND HUGGING U FOR REALZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bren: Aight peeps, well this is it. My last email as a full-time missionary! Serving a mission is the coolest experience ever! I’ve grown so much in these last 2 years! I’ve been able to meet so many amazing people and see people make changes in their lives through Jesus Christ. I cant thank my Heavenly Father enough. His plan for us, His children, is perfect. The gospel of Jesus Christ is so real and so true. Jesus Christ really is our Savior. He suffered for all our sins and pains and sicknesses and heartbreaks and scraped knees and bad hair days and everything, literally EVERYTHING we go through. But we don’t get to use that gift He’s given us if we don’t obey Him. True happiness comes through following Him. And I got to preach about Him for two years straight. That’s a super dang awesome privilege! One thing I’ve learned is that Heavenly Father really doesn’t need us to get His work done, but He lets us be a part of it so that we can learn and grow and become more like Him in the process. I know that even though the church and gospel that Jesus Christ set up on the earth was lost after His death and the deaths of His apostles, it has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that God and Jesus Christ really did appear to him and really did choose him to be a prophet like Moses, Abraham, and Noah. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that this is true because I asked my Heavenly Father about it through prayer, and He let me know that it is true through the Holy Spirit. I love you peeps, I hope to see you all soon!

Dad: I love it Bud! You are awesome! I can’t wait to see you and hug you!

Mom: Kabbammmmmm!!!!!! And that’s a wrap Peeps!

Bren: I gotta log off I love you mis padres ill see you in 2 days woohoo!!!!

Mom: Woooo Hooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooo!

Week 103, ‘President Torres!’

By |July 6th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

July 5, 2016

I’m glad y’all had a good 4th of July. We had a great day too. It was the only day in my entire mission that we didn’t go out and proselyte. We played sports at a park in McAllen with a lot of other missionaries and the Mission President and his family. The Maluendas went home last week. The new Mission President is President Torres. He’s from Honduras and doesn’t speak very much English. He is so awesome! He’s a young guy, in his thirties and he loves working side by side with us. We all had to be in our apartments by 6pm yesterday, so I went to sleep at 7:30. That was the most sleep I’ve gotten in a long time!

See u soon! I love you Mama. I’m doing really good and I’m pumped to see you next week! Dang Dad that’s crazy (regarding an awesome work thing Mark did)!!

I love you mis padres! I think we found that family of 5. They haven’t come to church yet, but they are very interested and many miracles lead us to them. I gotta go but I’ll give you the deets later. I love you mis padres!

Week 102, ‘Victor Got Baptized!’

By |July 6th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

June 27, 2016

This week has been super cool! VICTOR GOT BAPTIZED!!!! He’s is so cool. His conversion is seriously one of the biggest miracles I’ve seen on my mission. Literally, Elder Hawton and I didn’t have to do anything. He was so prepared to receive the gospel it was ridiculous. The first day we met him he prayed about the restoration and received an answer from the Holy Ghost that it’s true. That night he stayed up til midnight reading the Book of Mormon, and then he got up really early in the morning and read more. We met him on Saturday and his neighbor who is a member of the church brought him to church on Sunday, and he bore his testimony and told everyone he was excited to be baptized on the 26th of this month. Everyone welcomed him in very happily. He later told us that after that first time at church, he got rid of all of his pornagraphy and dirty music and cleaned up his language. He was so excited for his baptism yesterday and he’s even more excited to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost next week and to receive the Priesthood and go on a mission eventually! And we found him because his neighbor told us to go by and meet his family, but she warned us that they would probly just tell us to go away. That just shows that you never know who’s ready for the gospel. Heavenly Father is a great guy.

Wow that’s incredible Dad (regarding the surprise party)! Ur the best husband/dad ever! Seriously that is so cool that you did that for Mama. Sounds like it was dope!

Thank you mis padres. I love you mucho. Have an awesome week. I’ll see you soon!

June 20, 2016

Online! Doing great! Have a happy 50th birthday Mama! Ur excitement is good, I’m gunnu give you an anaconda squeeze back haha.

All the missionaries that are going home this transfer had a Family Home Evening at the Maluenda’s house yesterday! The song I sent you is me and Elder Ivey doing a rap version of “Para Simpre Dios Este Con Vos” (God Be With You Till We Meet Again). I forgot most of the words cuz we wrote it like a month ago. 😀

Gracias Padre! Happy Father’s Day! I hope it was a good one. Ur the bestest dad in the world, fur realz! I’m seriously so grateful that I get to have you as my dad. You have taught me so much, both through ur words and ur actions. Ur example of selfless service, trusting in the Lord, and laughing and loving life has molded me so much! I hope I can be as good of a father and husband as you are! Your work ethic is incredible, your attitude is awesome, and your humility is so so amazing. Especially because you are so smart and successful, it’s incredible that that never gets to your head and you always depend on the Lord and put Him and your family above everything else. Thank you so much for teaching me to find happiness through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be a Fearless son of God. Thank you so much for loving my mama with all ur heart and for loving us kids and giving up everything for us. I can’t express enough how incredible I think you are and how much I really do love you. I love you so much dad. I’ll see you soon.

Tu hijo 😀

I gotta go. I love you mi familia! Que tengan una buena semana!

Week 100, ‘Countdown!’

By |June 14th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

June 13, 2016

Elder Eisenhut will return home 1 Month From Today! Here’s a funny exchange he had with his grama this week:

Irene Eisenhut:

Good morning Brenners!

Last night we realized it is exactly one month from today that we will be able to hug you into oblivion!!! Of course the rest of us may not get close to you because your mother will engulf you and never let go! Needless to say, she is over the top excited to have her boy home!
I’m guessing you are having a mix of feelings about reaching the end of your mission. I know you are much loved in your mission family and I get the feeling it is mutual. But being home with your own family, old friends and moving on to BYU must feel pretty exciting too.
I just want you to know how proud we all are of your dedication to the mission and the people and God you serve. Your spirit is awesome and your maturity is noticible.

Love and hugs my sweet,

Elder Eisenhut:

In one month I’m gunnu give you a ‘bushel and a peck and a squeeeeeze around the neck!!! Well, that’s only if I don’t pass out from my mama’s anaconda squeeze. If that’s the case, I will hug you lightly after I get out of the hospital. Wow I can’t believe its been almost 2 years! Are you in a wheel chair yet? I hope ur not all shriveled up like a raisin, but if you are I will still love you. I’m excited to see you soon Toots! I love you!

Week 99, ‘Super Cool Miracle!’

By |June 9th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

June 6, 2016

Hey Mis Padres! We saw a super cool miracle this week. On Saturday, a member of the church, Sister Blanco, asked us to try her neighbors across the street to see if they were interested in the gospel. We went and met a guy named Victor. He was super interested in the message cuz lately he’s been wondering if there’s a true church. We taught him about the restoration and gave him a Book of Mormon. The next day he came to church and he stood up at the pulpit during testimony meeting and told everyone about how we met him, and that it was a miracle that he listened to us cuz his parents usually ignore the missionaries. He said he’d stayed up til midnight reading the Book of Mormon and wanted to be a member of the church and he’s excited to be baptized on June 26th. What the heck?! That’s so crazy!!!

Week 96, ‘Having a Great Attitude + Never Giving Up!’

By |May 20th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

May 16, 2016

Yo! We had meetings in McAllen for 3 days this week, and when we weren’t in meetings I got to work in my old area in Alamo! Last time I was there was a year ago so it was super fun to be back and see the peeps I love there.

One of the things we learned about in the meetings was having a great attitude and never giving up. President Maluenda shared us the story of Nephi in the Book of Mormon. He was commanded by God to get the scriptures (like the bible) from an evil man named Laban who was keeping them for himself. It would be very dangerous because Laban had many guards and could easily have Nephi and his brothers killed. Nephi and his brothers made two attempts to get the scriptures from Laban and failed both times, almost dying in the process. Nephi”s brothers wanted to give up and go home, but Nephi said that he would not go home until they had accomplished what the Lord commanded them to do. So he went to Laban’s house a third time, found Laban passed out drunk, and, by commandment of the Lord, killed him and got the scriptures.

Elder McFall and I had a Nephi-ish experience too! We were super lost and couldn’t find the house we were supposed to visit and our GPS wasn’t working and we didn’t have a phone. So we knocked on a random house to try to borrow a phone and no one answered. Then we asked some people in the street if we could use their phone and their phone was dead. Two fails. Then, when it seemed like all hope was lost, when we thought we might die in the streets of South Texas, out in the distance we saw a lady watering her plants. We said, ‘Now we will be like Nephi! We will be successful the third time!’ We courageously walked up to that woman and said, ‘We command thee to give us your phone!’ JOKE… we didn’t say that but that would be epic. But we used her phone and got directions to the house and lived happily ever after. So never give up people. Even when life gets cray cray, be like Nephi. He’s a pretty cool guy.

Also another day we were lost so we prayed to be guided to the people that needed us and we made a plan to walk down a street and talk to the first person we saw or if we didn’t see anyone we would knock the first door we felt like we should knock. So we started walking down the street and saw no one and then saw a house and felt like we should knock it so we did and met an awesome lady named Roxanne who just before we got there had been meditating and thinking about if God really exists. We had an awesome chat with her and she came to church yesterday! Miracles are the bestest! Woohoo!! Bye.

Week 94, ‘Workout on Pier + Lizzy’

By |May 19th, 2016|Brennen Mission, Faith & Family|0 Comments|

May 2, 2016

Yo! It’s been a great week in good ol’ Corpus Christi. I visited a place called Rockport and did a workout on a pier looking over the beach. It was super cool to see the water. Also we met a lady from Riverside and we have been teaching her a little bit. She’s dope!

We had some young men come out with us to do missionary work and it was super fun. It was awesome to see how much they loved it. They’re gunnu be great missionaries one day! Other news, we have a pet now. I found the same lizard chillin’ in my shoe every morning so I named him lizzy. I found out that one of the past missionaries used to feed him every day so now he just chills in our apartment.

I read the letter. It’s awesome Mama! And Sister Allen told me she talked to you. She’s so cool! I told her she reminds me a lot of you haha. I’ll be praying for you Mama! You got this! I’m hugging you in my mind!

Check out the talk “living the gospel joyful” by Elder Uchtdorf. It’s awesome! I love you mis padres! Well I can’t think of what to talk about this week, but Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are awesome! Bye!
